SUPPORTING ART FOR PUBLIC PLACES IN IDAHO

InvenStory brochure, an inventory of Idaho Pulic Art, pdf.

businessman

Commission staff, Delta James and Barbara Robinson, with assistance from Karen Bubb, public art manager at the Boise City Arts Commission. created a multi-year implementation plan that will help build a foundation for the support and development of public art throughout Idaho.

This plan is separate from the statewide percent for art legislation effort; however, it will unquestionably enhance and support an Art for Public Places Program should there be an opportunity to fund such a program in the future.

Public art can be integrated into Idaho communities. It reinforces the identity of a place for the resident population and visitors, provides economic revitalization, and involves artists.

Public art is thriving in Idaho! Click here to see a pdf of the InvenStory brochure, an inventory of public art located by seven field researchers in 2006. (Printed brochures are also available from the Commission.) If you know of new public art projects that you would like to include in our data base, please fill out the inventory questionnaire (word document) and e-mail to info@arts.idaho.gov or mail to the Commission offices.

Currently there are five cities in Idaho with public art programs: Moscow, Coeur d'Alene, Rexburg, Twin Falls, and Boise. Public art advisors have been trained and are available for assistance, training, workshops, and consultation in your region.
