The Commission encourages folk and traditional artists to apply for grants and awards in all categories. Applicants should contact the program director to discuss the application process. The folk and traditional arts are supported through: TRADITIONAL ARTS APPRENTICESHIPS (TRAap) designed to support the continuance and sharing of the state's cultural and artistic heritage. It provides funds to masters to pass on skills and knowledge to apprentices. QUICKFUND$ GRANTS TO INDIVIDUALS supports mentorships, shorter apprenticeships, or professional development for traditional artists to attend gatherings, such as the Great Basin or the Northwest Native American Basketweavers Association. QUICKFUND$ GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS support the presentation of traditional folk arts, demonstrations in community festivals, schools, museums, and local arts organizations. ARTS EDUCATION GRANTS. Upon request, master artists who have taught through the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship program will be added to the online Directory of Idaho Teaching Artists. FELLOWSHIP AWARDS recognize outstanding work in media arts, literature, craft, visual arts, and performing arts.
IDAHO FOLKLIFE RESOURCES DIRECTORY lists Idaho artists, organizations, folk performing groups, and links to folklife-rich Web resources. The museums, cultural centers, presenters, and historical societies listed in this directory either present or maintain folk art collections or other folklife records. If you are interested in being added to the directory, download the application form or contact the Commission. |
