Bio: Nita’s passion for quiltmaking came from her great grandmother. When Nita was 5 years old, her great grandmother let her put her first stitches into a quilt for a family member. But it wasn’t until her adult life, taking time to recuperate from an injury, that Nita began making quilts of her own. Now, over 40 years later, she has made more than one thousand quilts with complex designs and elaborate stitching. She is renowned in Idaho as a competent, nurturing teacher, and a skilled, award-winning quiltmaker of exceptional talent. The walls of her sewing room are trimmed with quilt blocks and lined with Best in Show ribbons. A mentor to others in her decades-old sewing circle, Nita has carried on her great grandmother’s tradition of making quilts, and successfully passed it on to many others. Nita is a member of the Boise Basin Quilters Guild. Over the years, she has mentored aspiring quiltmakers and given demonstrations in community events and schools.
