Mike Curtis
Bronze Wildlife Sculpture

Nature is my inspiration and my love of nature has made it both gratifying and rewarding to devote the past 40 years of my life to studying and sculpting the wild creatures that live among us. Outstanding wildlife sculptures are not merely a replica of nature; they are a work of art that combines the vision and passion of the wildlife artist as seen through his eyes. I believe that before an artist can begin to sculpt wildlife realistically he must really know his subject well. I spend weeks if not months preparing for each sculpture before I even began working with the clay. I have spent years, in fact nearly my entire career, observing eagles in the wild and studying their every motion. Whether these majestic birds are circling above me in the sky, catching fish from the lake that spans the windows of my studio, or nesting in the trees nearby, they continue to captivate and inspire me. It is no wonder that the bald eagle was chosen to be our national symbol. When I discovered the tree covered mountainside in northern Idaho, where I would eventually build my studio, I soon discovered that this was also a favorite gathering area for the bald eagles. I knew then that I had chosen well. Today I ship my limited edition bronze sculptures to collectors throughout the world. It is a wonderful feeling to know that my work is appreciated around the globe and that I have communicated my love of nature across cultural and linguistic barriers.
