Painting Scotland Simply put, art & music are Jan Clizer’s life……….past, present & future. Raised in the coastal NW US, Jan has been a full-time painter since 1998, & part-time visual artist while raising her two children since 1980. She works in several mediums, predominantly oils & pastels, to create a wide variety of images in a representational style. Colorful harbor scenes & landscapes to get lost in, celtic-themed instrument closeups, vibrant, intense florals, & personality-filled animal & human portraits all emerge from under the same artist’s brush. Jan has had the strong desire to “put marks on something” since a small child. In 1980, living in a ruggedly beautiful area of the US West, she took up pencil & brush. Family responsibilities put painting in the background for a substantial period, but the desire & inspiration remained constant. A working tour of Europe in the mid-‘70s brought Jan to the UK, & a 24-year-old dream was realized in 2003, when she returned to Scotland to travel & do research for a series of Celtic music images. Lives can change in a heartbeat, & Jan is now living her dream of painting & playing fiddle in both rural Scotland & Northern Idaho. She exhibits internationally, with paintings in many private & corporate collections, & spends off hours playing Celtic music or soaking up the culture, history & scenery in her current surroundings. contact Celtic Fiddle Series #2 ![]() Ready for Strike-In ![]() Stornoway Red www.janclizerpaintings.com Submitted on Saturday, March 25, 2006 |
